care tips:
Light: Tradescantias grow best in bright, indirect light. They can grow in lower light conditions, but the growth will often be sparse and leggy. Avoid prolonged direct sun, especially in the afternoon as that can burn the leaves. If the plant becomes leggy, it’s usually a sign that is not receiving enough light. Move to a brighter spot and trim back some of the long stems to encourage more compact growth.
Water: Water when the top layer of soil is dry.
Soil: Use an all-purpose, well-draining soil when repotting.
Fun Facts:
– These plants are very easy to propagate by stem cuttings. Just snap a healthy stem with a few leaves and stick it in a pot of soil and it will soon establish itself as a new plant.
– Available in many different varieties.
