care tips:
Light: Bright light is best for these unique plants. A south or west facing window is ideal.
Water: Water when the top few inches of soil have dried out.
Soil: Plant in an all-purpose potting mix. Fertilize about once a month. These plants do prefer to be slightly root bound, so avoid repotting until it is necessary, every few years should be sufficient.
Blooming tips:
It can be very tricky to get the BOP to bloom indoors, especially in Maine so in order to encourage blooms, one should:
– Provide maximum light and warmth
– Ensure the plant is in a slightly root bound start, as this can encourage bloom production.
– Fertilize as needed
– Be patient 🙂
